Gentle Evaluation. Precise Treatment. All Ages.

Lip and Tongue Release

Lip and tongue ties can restrict normal oral movement and affect feeding, speech, swallowing, breathing, jaw development, and long-term oral health. When left untreated, these restrictions may contribute to ongoing discomfort and functional challenges.

We provide non-invasive evaluations to determine whether treatment may improve comfort, function, and quality of life.

Who We Treat

Lip and tongue ties can affect patients across all stages of life:

  • • Infants: Feeding, latching, and early development concerns
  • • Children: Speech development, eating challenges, and oral growth
  • • Adolescents: Speech clarity, orthodontic stability, sleep, and posture
  • • Adults: Chronic tension, headaches, sleep concerns, and oral health issues

Evaluation & Diagnosis

Lip and tongue mobility are assessed as part of routine oral exams for children and adults. Infant evaluations are available for feeding or latching concerns. When a restriction is identified, we evaluate how it affects feeding, speech, or breathing and review appropriate treatment options.

Lip and Tongue Tie Treatment

When indicated, treatment may include a laser frenectomy to release restrictive tissue and restore function. We use advanced CO₂ laser technology for precise, gentle care with minimal bleeding, reduced discomfort, and faster healing compared to traditional surgical techniques.

When to Seek Care

An evaluation may be recommended if you or your child experience:

  • • Feeding or speech difficulties
  • • Jaw, neck, or facial tension
  • • Sleep or breathing concerns

Coordinated Care

We work closely with speech therapists, lactation consultants, pediatricians, and other providers when needed. Customized guidance and exercises support healing and long-term success.

Biopsies

Suspicious oral lesions can be biopsied atraumatically using the CO₂ laser, resulting in minimal to no bleeding, reduced postoperative discomfort, and virtually no scarring.

Gum Recontouring

Gummy smiles or overgrown gums can be precisely recontoured with the CO₂ laser, improving cosmetic outcomes and providing a better fit for crowns and dentures.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

A minimally invasive procedure that uses focused light energy to remove diseased tissue and bacteria, often serving as an alternative to traditional oral surgery. The dentist uses a CO₂ laser to deliver light energy into the periodontal pockets, helping to sterilize and seal them. This approach minimizes pain, bleeding, and recovery time, often allowing patients to eat immediately after the procedure, unlike traditional periodontal scalpel surgery.
